It’s one of Uganda’s most spectacular parks with 1,442 sq.km and harbours scenery unsurpassed in any other park in East Africa! It lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys of Karamoja province in Kaabong district on the far northern border with Sudan. As a result, the variety of animal species in the park is equally abundant including many which are found nowhere else in Uganda like Ostriches and Cheetah. Carnivore species unique to Kidepo and Karamoja region include the bat-eared fox, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal, cheetah and hunting dog. Less common ungulates include the greater and lesser kudu, chandlers mountain reedbuck, klipspringer, dik dik and bright gazelle, beisa oryx and roan antelope have been severely depleted by poachers in the recent years. Among other large ungulates are elephant, burchell’s zebra, bush pig, warthog, rothschild giraffe, cape buffalo, eland, bush buck, bush duskier, defassa water buck, bohor reed buck, jackson’s hartebeest and oribi. Other wildlife includes tree climbing lions, several small cats, black-backed jackal and side-striped jackal, elephants, leopard, buffalo. Kidepo Valley is also a palace to over 475 bird species, some of East Africa’s rarest and most sought after birds such as black-breasted barbet and Karamoja apallis. Others also worth noting are verreaux’s eagle, Egyptian vulture, pygmy falcon, four species of hornbills; the red-billed, yellow-billed, jackson’s hornbill and the giant Abyssinaia ground hornbill. The Kidepo River Valley is also another splendid view dominated by Borassus palm forest, the Kanangorok hot springs and many other attractions.
Day 1: Arrival and Airport pickup to your hotel
Meet and greet with our guide on arrival at Entebbe International airport. You will then be transferred to your booked accommodation in Uganda’s capital city Kampala for your dinner and overnight stay. As you are being transferred, keep your eyes out and view the splendid city of Kampala. Dinner and overnight at Boma hotel Entebbe or Lake Victoria Serena resort
Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kidepo valley National park by our well trained driver. This journey takes about 8 hours through some of the old cities in Uganda and this gives you a chance to have a view of them as you drive through to your destination. Check in to your booked accommodation on arrival. Due to the long hours of traveling, you will have a rest and prepare for the next day’s adventure. You will have Lunch in Lira town, dinner and overnight at Apoka safari lodge.
Day 3: Game Drive in Kidepo Valley National Park
After breakfast, go for an early morning game drive. Stand chances of seeing a number of fauna and flora that cannot be seen elsewhere in Uganda such Cheetah, Ostriches, Blight’s gazelle among others. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will set off for an optional cultural walk, getting a chance to meet the Karamojong people in Kotido. One of the cultural items that you will see are the ‘Kraals’-the grinding stones, their traditional huts called “Manyattas’ and many more African crafts which are so amazing. Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala
After a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kampala by our driver. It’s quite a long journey and it takes about 8 hours. Have en route lunch in Gulu town. You will reach Kampala in the evening and you will be driven to a hotel. Dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria Serena Resort or Hotel Boma Entebbe
Day 5: Reserved for your departure from Entebbe international airport
